Insurance Accountant

About the role

We’re recruiting on behalf of our captive insurance client for an experienced Insurance Accountant to join their finance team. This opportunity would suit an accounting professional with previous insurance or reinsurance accounting experience. A professional accounting designation is not required.

Key responsibilities

• Support day-to-day insurance accounting and financial reporting activities.
• Prepare and post insurance-related transactions and account reconciliations.
• Assist with financial statements, regulatory reporting and management information.
• Support reinsurance accounting, premium receivables and claims-related activities.
• Reconcile investment and cash accounts and assist with general ledger activities.
• Support month-end processes and other finance projects as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Studying towards an Accounting qualification would be an asset.
• Minimum 2 years’ accounting experience within insurance or reinsurance.
• Strong accounting, reconciliation and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with financial/accounting systems.
