Lead Shift Building Operator

About the role

Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda’s largest resort, is seeking a Lead Shift Building Operator to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and safety of all hotel building systems and equipment. This senior‑level position supervises other building operators and works closely with management to ensure reliable, efficient facility performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain building automation, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, water, steam/heating, pump, chiller, boiler and air‑handling systems.
• Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, testing and diagnostics to meet safety and performance standards.
• Perform repairs, troubleshoot issues and escalate major failures to the Director of Engineering.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, work orders, parts inventory and supplies.
• Supervise and schedule other building operators, providing guidance and training.
• Collaborate with management on system upgrades, maintenance policies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in building operations within a hospitality environment.
• Proven ability to supervise a team of building operators.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards and preventive maintenance practices.
• Effective communication with engineering leadership and other hotel departments.
