Actuary – Pricing & Reinsurance

About the role

Athene is seeking a driven Actuary to join the Pricing team and support complex flow reinsurance transactions. Reporting to the Director of Pricing, you will use actuarial modeling and cross‑functional collaboration to advance strategic initiatives in the retirement services industry.

Key responsibilities

• Support pricing and execution of flow reinsurance deals through actuarial modeling, analysis, and diligence.
• Develop and maintain pricing models, analytical tools, and documentation for new and in‑force opportunities.
• Analyze product features, experience data, and transaction structures to inform profitability and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with finance, investments, legal, risk, accounting, and corporate development throughout transaction execution.
• Enhance pricing methodologies, model controls, operational processes, and peer‑review practices.
• Research and monitor actuarial, accounting, regulatory, and industry developments, including statutory, GAAP, and international solvency frameworks.
• Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and AI‑enabled workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a quantitative field; Associate qualification of a recognized actuarial body (Fellow preferred).
• 6+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.
• Familiarity with statutory reserving, GAAP, and solvency frameworks such as Solvency II or ICAAP.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple functions.

Required skills

• Actuarial modeling platforms (e.g., MG‑ALFA, GGY AXIS, Polysystems).
• Programming and analytics tools: Python, R, VBA, SAS, SQL.
