Assistant Director – Blockchain, Forensics & Data Intelligence

About the role

The Bermuda Monetary Authority is looking for an Assistant Director to lead its blockchain forensics, AI and data intelligence initiatives within the Supervision (FinTech) Department. Reporting to a Deputy Director, you will support the supervision of digital asset businesses, InsurTech, payment services and other emerging technology‑enabled financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced analysis of on‑chain, off‑chain and supervisory data to detect patterns, anomalies and emerging risks.
• Design, develop and maintain blockchain forensics tools, dashboards and analytical workflows.
• Build AI‑enabled predictive models, risk indicators and early‑warning tools to enhance supervisory intelligence.
• Translate technical findings into clear regulatory intelligence, briefings and reports for senior management.
• Evaluate and support third‑party forensic, RegTech and SupTech solutions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, information systems, engineering or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in data analytics, blockchain analysis, financial intelligence or a related technical field, preferably in financial services, fintech or a regulatory environment.
• Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets and deliver accurate, evidence‑based insights.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, SQL and/or R for data analysis.
• Experience with data visualisation and dashboarding tools.
• Practical knowledge of blockchain or distributed ledger data analysis (transaction flows, wallet behaviour, network activity).
• Familiarity with AI/ML techniques, predictive modelling and risk‑indicator development.
