Associate Director, Financial Reporting

About the role

A leading Bermuda-based life (re)insurer is seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead its financial reporting function. The role will act as a subject‑matter expert for accounting, regulatory reporting, governance and audit coordination, while partnering with business stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and ensure compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial close processes.
• Prepare and review IFRS financial statements and statutory regulatory filings.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities.
• Maintain and enhance Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) processes.
• Deliver financial analysis, reporting and insights to management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on reporting requirements and finance initiatives.
• Assess accounting treatment and reporting implications for new products and business activities.
• Support continuous improvement and finance transformation projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) required.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting, audit or financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting, including IFRS 17.
• Mandatory experience with life (re)insurance.
• Familiarity with Bermuda regulatory reporting requirements.
• Experience with SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
