Communications Manager – Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme

About the role

The Bermuda Zoological Society is hiring a Communications Manager on a contract basis to lead strategic communications for the Bermuda Ocean Prosperity Programme (BOPP). The role supports the delivery of BOPP’s Blue Prosperity Plan, which aims to foster a sustainable blue economy, protect marine resources, and engage stakeholders across government, NGOs, and the community.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary communications representative for BOPP, engaging with government officials, community members, and partners.
• Design and implement a comprehensive communications strategy in coordination with the Waitt Institute Communications Manager.
• Amplify programme milestones through press releases, media relations, and message development.
• Create content such as briefs, progress reports, and stakeholder presentations.
• Manage BOPP’s digital presence, including website updates, social‑media strategy, and analytics.
• Identify and cultivate engagement opportunities across government, NGOs, and community sectors.
• Plan, coordinate, and promote BOPP events, public forums, and stakeholder meetings.
• Deliver all communications outputs according to the BOPP work plan, meeting timelines and quality standards.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of communications experience with proven expertise in strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong project‑management skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with government partners and diverse audiences.
