About the role
This senior position reports to the VP & Deputy Chief Risk Officer, Bermuda and works closely with the Chief Risk Officer, the Board and senior leaders across Risk, Finance, Actuarial, Legal, Investments and Product. The Director will act as an independent risk voice, translating complex actuarial, capital, liquidity and investment considerations into actionable insight for strategic and tactical decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and continuously enhance the Bermuda Risk framework, including CISSA, SBA governance and Economic Balance Sheet considerations.
- Provide senior‑level oversight of model integrity, accuracy, transparency and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to evaluate assumptions, methodologies and modeling approaches across ALM, valuation, pricing, capital and stress testing.
- Prepare and present materials for the SBA Committee, Board of Directors, senior executives and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct risk assessments for new reinsurance transactions and major initiatives against risk appetite, capital requirements and regulatory standards.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert on Bermuda regulatory frameworks, internal risk policies and capital implications, including BMA engagements.
- Influence strategic and tactical decision‑making across actuarial, capital, product, investment, liquidity, derivatives, legal, compliance and business functions.
- Lead, develop and guide cross‑functional contributors, fostering accountability and a proactive Bermuda risk culture.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or another quantitative field.
- Fellow of a recognized actuarial body (FSA or FIA preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in the life insurance industry, preferably with annuities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and drive initiatives.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite.
- Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, VBA).
