Director Finance

About the role

The Director Finance will lead the Bermuda statutory close process and oversee the day‑to‑day financial reporting for regulated entities. Reporting to the VP Bermuda Controller, this senior position partners with senior management to ensure accurate and compliant financial statements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review monthly and quarterly financial reporting journal entries, controls, and reinsurance calculations for BSTAT reporting.
• Act as escalation point and trusted advisor on new transactions affecting BSTAT reporting.
• Coordinate quarterly close activities across Actuarial, FP&A, Reinsurance Accounting, Investment Accounting, and Tax.
• Serve as primary contact for external year‑end BSTAT audited financial statements filed with the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
• Mentor and manage accountants handling transaction processing and financial statement preparation.
• Review disclosures related to SEC 10‑K/10‑Q and stand‑alone GAAP reporting that incorporate Bermuda inputs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with a recognized accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, etc.).
• 7+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in life and annuity insurance and reinsurance accounting.
• Experience with US GAAP and Bermuda regulatory reporting for insurance/reinsurance companies.
• Strong controls background, including Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance.
• Proven ability to manage and develop team members.
