Fixed Income Trader

About the role

Arch Capital Group is seeking a Fixed Income Trader to support U.S. Treasury and Investment Grade Credit trading across multiple portfolios. The position focuses on short‑duration instruments, helping implement portfolio strategies, generate relative‑value insights, and work closely with Portfolio Managers, Sector Specialists, and Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support short‑duration trading activities, including commercial paper and money‑market instruments.
• Assist with new‑issue processes: place orders, monitor order books, and devise hedging strategies.
• Execute trade ideas sourced by sector specialists in consultation with Portfolio Managers.
• Identify and evaluate relative‑value opportunities across issuers, sectors, and the credit curve.
• Coordinate with Portfolio Managers to implement fixed‑income strategies across multiple portfolios.
• Maintain broker and dealer relationships for effective market coverage.
• Use investment platforms and market data tools to monitor flows, technicals, and historical price relationships.
• Monitor portfolio cash flows and positioning, and prepare reports for Arch entities.
• Gain exposure to external managers handling high yield, leveraged loans, CLOs, and municipal securities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Prior experience in trading, fixed‑income markets, or investment‑management environment preferred.
• Progress towards or possession of the CFA designation.
• Strong understanding of fixed‑income instruments and market structure.
• Analytical ability, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, market‑driven environment.
