About the role

The Food & Beverage Captain leads the restaurant team at The Loren in Bermuda, ensuring every guest receives attentive, polished service and each meal exceeds expectations. This hands‑on leadership position combines supervision, guest interaction, and coordination with culinary and bar teams to uphold the brand’s standards of warmth and sophistication.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support restaurant staff to deliver seamless, elevated service.
• Take guest orders, anticipate needs, and ensure prompt, polished service.
• Oversee restaurant setup, breakdown, and cleanliness, maintaining service standards.
• Collaborate with culinary and bar teams to ensure smooth coordination and timing.
• Step in for the Restaurant Manager when required, managing shifts and delegating tasks.
• Train and mentor new hires, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Conduct stock checks, receive vendor orders, and assist with inventory.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and service standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Lead Waiter or 1 year as a Food & Beverage Captain in fine‑dining or luxury hotel settings.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team.
• In‑depth knowledge of food, wine, and beverage service standards.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills in English.
• Physical fitness to perform duties involving lifting and extended standing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MICROS POS system.
• Ability to self‑cashier.
