General Maintenance Technician

About the role

You will assist the Building Engineer in operating a 300,000 RSF commercial property in Hamilton, Bermuda. The position ensures safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all building systems while delivering high‑quality service to tenants.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, fire/life‑safety, vertical transportation, and building automation systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms and common areas to verify safety and compliance.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, documenting work according to manufacturer recommendations and internal procedures.
• Respond promptly to tenant service requests, diagnose issues, and resolve problems with a customer‑focused approach.
• Coordinate vendor and contractor activities, ensuring access, quality of work, and adherence to safety policies.
• Assist with capital and operational projects such as equipment upgrades and energy‑efficiency initiatives.
• Maintain accurate logs, work orders, equipment histories, and compliance documentation.
• Participate in emergency response, including after‑hours support for critical incidents.

Required profile

• Technical training or certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or building systems.
• Refrigerant handling license/certified technician under the Clean Air Act.
• Extensive experience in commercial building operations and facilities maintenance.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond to emergencies.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent tenant service.
