About the role
Mollie Bigley Studio, a boutique Bermuda‑based practice, is looking for an experienced Lead Designer to manage high‑end residential projects remotely from concept through construction and installation. The role is a full‑time, long‑term independent consulting engagement, collaborating closely with the studio principal and directing a local team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead assigned high‑end residential projects from concept design through construction and installation.
- Develop cohesive architectural and interior design solutions, including space plans, elevations, cabinetry, lighting, furniture, and finish specifications.
- Produce and review drawings, schedules, presentations and technical documentation.
- Coordinate design information with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants.
- Direct local team members in gathering site dimensions, photographs and existing condition documentation.
- Present design concepts, selections and recommendations to clients.
- Manage coordination with contractors, consultants, millworkers, tradespeople, suppliers and vendors.
- Review consultant drawings, shop drawings, samples and submittals for consistency.
- Support FF&E specifications, budgeting, approvals, procurement and installation planning.
- Provide remote construction‑phase support and participate in virtual site meetings.
- Guide and review work of junior designers, drafters and local team members.
Required profile
- Substantial professional experience leading high‑end residential design projects.
- Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating completed high‑end residential work.
- Proven experience managing projects from concept through construction and installation.
- Strong design judgment and refined understanding of residential planning, materials, finishes, cabinetry, lighting, furnishings and architectural detailing.
- Experience producing and reviewing coordinated construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction and consultant coordination.
- Excellent organizational, project‑management and client‑facing communication skills.
- Ability to provide clear direction and review work of remote and local team members.
- Legal ability to provide independent professional services from the applicant’s location.
What we offer
- Annual consulting fee of US$100,000–$125,000+, depending on experience.
- Occasional company‑paid travel to Bermuda at key project stages.
