Shift Building Operator – Building Engineer (HVAC)

About the role

The Shift Building Operator – Building Engineer (HVAC) will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, refrigeration and related mechanical systems at Fairmont Southampton. Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Facility Operations, the role is pivotal in delivering guest comfort and maintaining the resort’s high operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections and walkthroughs of HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical equipment.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair air handling units, fan coil units, mini‑split systems, chilled water loops, pumps and ventilation equipment.
• Monitor temperature, humidity and air‑quality throughout the property to ensure optimal guest conditions.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to extend equipment life and minimise downtime.
• Diagnose equipment failures, execute corrective actions and escalate major issues to supervisory staff.

• Ability to respond promptly to service requests and emergencies.
