Summer Underwriting Internship – Bermuda

About the role

AIG is offering a 9‑week Summer Internship in Underwriting (Financial Lines or Excess Casualty) based in Bermuda. Interns will work alongside experienced underwriters, gaining hands‑on experience in risk evaluation, pricing, and portfolio management while developing a solid foundation in insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Support evaluation and analysis of risks to determine appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing.
• Review underwriting submissions, financial information, loss history, and exposure data.
• Build relationships and communicate with brokers, clients, and internal business partners.
• Assist in preparing quotes, proposals, renewals, and other underwriting documentation.
• Learn to apply underwriting guidelines, appetite, and risk‑selection strategies.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams such as Claims, Actuarial, Risk Engineering, and Analytics.
• Use data and analytical tools to support underwriting decisions.
• Support portfolio management and identify opportunities for profitable growth.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and organizational abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate, manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028.
• Available for the full‑time internship from June 7 to August 6 2027, working on‑site at least four days per week.
