Underwriting Assistant – Reinsurance

About the role

Hamilton Re is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the growth of its reinsurance portfolio. Reporting to the AVP, Reinsurance Underwriting Support Manager, you will provide administrative and analytical assistance throughout the underwriting lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Enter submission data, download models, prepare files and manage documents.
• Conduct contract reviews and analyse submission data in underwriting and related systems.
• Liaise with underwriting and operations teams to ensure timely, accurate data processing and compliance.
• Meet financial reporting deadlines and support business development initiatives.
• Assist with portfolio administration, management reporting, system testing and ad‑hoc projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within specialty, property and casualty reinsurance.
• Experience with Salesforce or a comparable underwriting deal‑management system.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with SICS is an asset.
• Ability to work independently, strong attention to detail and effective prioritisation.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
