Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

Bermuda Waterworks Limited is seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to support the CFO in managing the Finance Department. The role involves overseeing financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, regulatory compliance and internal controls for a publicly listed water utility.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare consolidated group and subsidiary financial statements under IFRS, U.S. GAAP and stock‑exchange regulations.
• Coordinate the annual external audit and act as the primary liaison with auditors.
• Manage treasury activities including cash management, investments, bank reconciliations and dividend administration.
• Oversee core accounting operations such as accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, inventory, royalties and corporate credit‑card administration.
• Assist in annual budgeting, variance analysis and corporate administration tasks.
• Supervise, coach and develop Finance team members, promoting cross‑training and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA, CMA or equivalent).
• Minimum five years of post‑qualification accounting experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience preparing consolidated statements under IFRS; listed‑company reporting is a plus.
• Strong background in financial reporting, audit coordination, treasury, budgeting, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with process automation and financial technology implementation.
