Head of Financial Reporting

About the role

The Head of Financial Reporting will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial information. This role supports statutory and regulatory reporting, strengthens financial controls and drives reporting framework improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the planning and execution of the quarterly financial close and reporting process, including journal entries, reconciliations and supporting analyses.
• Prepare U.S. GAAP financial statements, Bermuda Statutory Financial Return (BSFR), Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) and related disclosures.
• Monitor new accounting pronouncements and support their implementation.
• Collaborate with underwriting, operations and external service providers to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of transactions.
• Lead and coordinate internal and external audit requests, examinations and regulatory inquiries.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and finance transformation.
• Support Board and Audit Committee reporting through management information, analytical reviews and commentary.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
• Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience in insurance, reinsurance or financial services.
• Proficiency in U.S. GAAP and Bermuda statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting external audits, regulatory examinations and internal control environments.
• Experience with Sun General Ledger; familiarity with W‑Desk and other reporting tools is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate across functions.
• Recognized reinsurance or insurance designation (e.g., ARe, CPCU) is a plus.
