Water Systems Operator & Utility Plumber

About the role

Bermuda Waterworks Limited is seeking reliable and motivated individuals to join its Utility Division as Water Systems Operators and Utility Plumbers, providing essential drinking water services across the island.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with operations and maintenance of the Utility Division’s water distribution system.
• Perform metered water service installations and repairs, including pipefitting, valve and meter installation, and pressure and flow adjustments.
• Install PVC and HDPE water mains, conduct leak detection, maintain pumps and reservoirs, and carry out water audits and meter checks.
• Operate tools and construction equipment, perform field work, meter reading, water quality testing, and respond to 24‑hour emergencies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. with at least three years of relevant experience in water systems, plumbing, water treatment or utilities.
• Valid light‑truck driver’s licence and ability to ride an auxiliary cycle for monthly meter reading.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, climbing, working at heights and in confined spaces, and availability for overtime, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Pipefitting and installation of water‑main gate valves up to 12 inches.
• Installation and maintenance of PVC and HDPE water mains.
• Water quality testing and meter reading.
• Safe operation of hand and power tools, construction equipment and pumps.
