Customs Agent

About the role

The Customs Agent supports FedEx’s import, export and transshipment operations by preparing and processing customs documentation, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and facilitating timely clearance of air‑freight shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customs forms such as master airway bills, cargo manifests, general declarations, invoices and related paperwork for import, export and transshipment procedures.
• Complete documentation detailing duties, tariffs, taxes and VAT to enable accurate cost recovery.
• Generate international manifests to support efficient customs clearance.
• Select and inspect assigned packages, report stop counts and miss‑sorts accurately and promptly.
• Ensure full compliance with country customs and tax laws and FedEx policies.
• Interface with customs officials and coordinate customs activities with internal operations staff.
• Maintain organized and properly filed customs documentation.
• Perform sorting, baggage support at airports and stations, and retrieve air freight from carriers as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of experience with international freight/cargo customs policies, procedures, rules and laws.
• Knowledge of airport and customs clearance procedures preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• General office abilities and computer literacy.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and maneuver packages up to 150 lb using appropriate equipment.
