Reinsurance Senior Accountant

About the role

Equitable is seeking a Reinsurance Senior Accountant to join its Bermuda office. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will support accounting, financial reporting, and operational activities for the company’s reinsurance portfolio, working closely with Finance, Actuarial, Risk, Investments, and Reinsurance Administration.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial reporting for U.S. GAAP, U.S. STAT, and Schedule S requirements.
• Execute daily reinsurance accounting tasks, including transaction recording, account reconciliations, and general‑ledger maintenance.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies promptly.
• Compile monthly and quarterly financial reports, settlement statements, management reporting, and regulatory filings.
• Interpret and operationalize complex reinsurance transactions such as coinsurance, funds withheld, and modified coinsurance arrangements.
• Support Bermuda Monetary Authority reporting, including Bermuda STAT and Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) filings.
• Design, document, and maintain internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Reinsurance Administration, Actuarial, Investments, and Risk Management.
• Identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests and special projects.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in end‑to‑end reinsurance accounting and treaty analysis.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, U.S. STAT, Schedule S, and Bermuda regulatory reporting.
• Proven ability to maintain robust internal controls and comply with SOX.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

• Competitive base salary range $91,289 – $140,000
