VP Senior Underwriter – Large Commercial Property

About the role

We are seeking a Vice President, Senior Underwriter for Large Commercial Property to lead underwriting activities and drive profitable growth. The role reports to the Head of Property & Casualty and works closely with brokers, clients and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and service a renewal book while generating new business in line with business unit goals.
• Develop and manage underwriting strategies for renewals and target accounts.
• Represent AXA XL in senior client and broker meetings, including Fortune 500 companies.
• Calculate appropriate risk premiums and exercise delegated authority to achieve profit objectives.
• Monitor financial exposure, premium income and ensure compliance with underwriting limits.
• Maintain awareness of claims, support settlement processes and secure adequate reinsurance.
• Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients, identifying new distribution opportunities.
• Identify new product development opportunities and cross‑market with other AXA XL lines.
• Collaborate with underwriting assistants and management to support team objectives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in property underwriting, preferably large commercial property.
• Proven track record of managing renewal books and delivering profitable results.
• Strong analytical judgment and ability to assess complex risks.
• Experience interacting with senior executives and major brokers.
• Leadership capability to work collaboratively within a global underwriting team.
