After School Program Assistant

About the role

The After‑School Program at Mount Saint Agnes Academy provides a safe, engaging environment for students from early language programs through Grade 5. The Assistant works weekdays from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm and supports additional camp weeks, professional‑development days, and a six‑week summer camp.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise homework, structured activities and free play.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of all students during program hours.
• Provide academic support during homework time.
• Manage student behaviour fairly and consistently.
• Communicate regularly with the Program Coordinator and school staff.
• Be available for emergencies and additional hours as needed.
• Participate in required staff training and maintain certifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in education, child development or a related field (preferred).
• 2–3 years experience working with elementary‑aged children in an educational or childcare setting (preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective problem‑solving ability and calm handling of unexpected situations.
• Positive role‑model attitude and professionalism in representing the program.
• Excellent organisational skills for multitasking and prioritising.
• High integrity and sensitivity to confidential information.
• Commitment to the school’s Catholic mission and hospitality.
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, SunSmart and SCARS.
