Building Operator

About the role

The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, Bermuda's only luxury urban resort, is hiring a Building Operator reporting to the Director of Facilities Operations. The role covers the maintenance of the hotel's physical plant, preventive maintenance, contractor management and compliance with building, health and fire regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment and electrical systems, and run an effective preventive maintenance programme
• Manage and coordinate contracts with external contractors and vendors
• Ensure compliance with building code, health, fire and life safety regulations
• Run a cost-effective energy management programme and monitor the hotel's EMS
• Set performance standards, train staff in health and safety and emergency procedures, and supervise maintenance colleagues
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, colleagues and management

Required profile

• At least 4 years' experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel
• 4th Class Power Engineering qualification
• Degree or diploma in engineering or trade certification in building management is an asset
• Knowledge of building codes, fire and health department requirements
• Experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects worth millions
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and building blueprints

Physical demands include walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling for 6-8 hours a day, repetitive motion, and exposure to extreme weather, high noise and hazardous machinery.
