Assistant Maître D'

About the role

Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, Bermuda's only luxury urban resort, is hiring a full-time Assistant Maître D' reporting to the Maître D. The role covers team leadership, food and beverage operations support, training and staff scheduling, and is open to candidates who enjoy connecting guests to the hotel and growing their career in hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional, proactive guest service and motivate, coach and manage team performance toward exceptional guest service and employee engagement.
• Help develop and run promotional and sales events, and assist with menus, wine lists, specifications and standards for beverage operations.
• Facilitate F&B training, follow up on training needs and train staff on the POS system, including programming and maintenance.
• Schedule and manage staff to meet service level commitments and labour cost goals, and produce weekly payroll as required.
• Run shift briefings and departmental meetings, keep the outlet clean and safe, and help prepare the annual restaurant budget, capital plan and strategic projects.
• Maintain good working relationships with supporting departments, comply with policies and procedures, and take part in hotel committees.
• Follow strict health and safety guidelines, including those set by Accor, local government and the WHO and CDC.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Food & Beverage or Hotel Management preferred.
• Three years of supervisory experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining restaurant.
• Proven track record of high guest and colleague satisfaction, and experience leading new and developing teams is an advantage.
• Ability to stay calm and courteous in a busy, fast-paced environment, with strong initiative and organization.
• Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, public holidays and weekends.

Required skills

• Strong beverage knowledge, especially of wines, strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Silverware, Opera and Birchstreet is an asset.
