Assistant Registrar of Shipping

About the role

The Bermuda Shipping and Maritime Authority is looking for a highly organized, customer‑focused professional to join its Registry Department. As an Assistant Registrar of Shipping you will support the administration of Bermuda‑flagged vessels and interact with both local and international maritime clients.

Key responsibilities

• Administer ship registration activities for Bermuda‑flagged vessels and maintain data in the Bermuda Online Ship Registry System (BOSS).
• Manage issuance and renewal of radio licences, handling client communications and regulatory liaison.
• Assist with accounts receivable processes and collections in collaboration with senior management.
• Maintain and update Bermuda’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU) ship station list.
• Liaise with the Registry General’s Department on births, deaths, and marriage officer applications for registered vessels.
• Provide general administrative support, undertake projects as assigned, and deputise for the Registrar of Shipping when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, public administration, law, accountancy, a technical discipline or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with exceptional customer‑service orientation.
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays when required.
