Bartender – Luxury Hotel Bar

About the role

We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Bartender. Reporting to the Maître D’, you will deliver exceptional beverage and bar experiences that reflect Fairmont’s luxury brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, wines, spirits and specialty drinks, meeting brand and LQA standards.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service, including the right to refuse service in accordance with local laws and hotel policy.
• Take and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional presentation.
• Maintain full knowledge of the beverage menu, promotions and daily specials to answer guest inquiries and make recommendations.
• Upsell beverages, food and promotions to enhance guest experience and maximize outlet revenue.
• Set up, clean and maintain bar areas, glassware, garnishes, mixers and inventory throughout the shift.
• Operate POS systems and manage cash/charge transactions accurately.
• Monitor beverage inventory, control portion sizes and minimize waste.
• Collaborate with restaurant, bar and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service during high‑volume periods and special events.
• Perform opening and closing duties, including stock counts and securing the bar area.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized bartending or mixology program.
• Minimum 1–2 years of bartending experience in a high‑volume, luxury hotel or fine‑dining environment.
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines and beverage service standards.
• Excellent guest service, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and special events.

Required skills

• Bartending/mixology certification.
• Proficiency in operating POS systems.
• Inventory management and portion control.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits and wines.
