Maintenance Technician – Hotel Facilities

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and functionality of the hotel’s facilities, guest rooms, and equipment at Fairmont Southampton. This role supports day‑to‑day operations by responding to maintenance requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all building systems operate efficiently and in line with Fairmont and Accor standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and colleagues, performing repairs in guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house spaces and other hotel facilities.
• Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and other building systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment failures, installing and testing parts, fixtures and equipment as required.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, lock‑out/tag‑out protocols and local regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in a hotel, resort or similar facility.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or mechanical systems is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of building systems and proven troubleshooting skills across multiple disciplines.
• Good communication and customer‑service skills when interacting with guests and team members.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays and on‑call rotations.
