Reinsurance Claims Specialist

About the role

The Reinsurance Claims Specialist will support the Claims Manager in Bermuda and play a pivotal role in managing reinsurance claims across multiple lines of business. You will work closely with the Middle Office team to ensure timely, accurate claim handling while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily claims activities and oversee an assigned portfolio of property, casualty, and specialty reinsurance claims.
• Collaborate with the Middle Office to approve referred claims and provide guidance on complex issues.
• Investigate new and existing claims, review contractual terms, and determine coverage, exposure, and recoveries.
• Assess claim reserves, authorize payments within delegated limits, and monitor data quality.
• Maintain clear communication with underwriters, brokers, clients, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; support audit and reporting requests.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of claim handling experience within (re)insurance, preferably across property, casualty, and specialty lines.
• Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and numerical accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to develop expertise in reinsurance.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, particularly Power BI.
