Senior Manager, Claims

About the role

The Senior Manager, Claims will lead a team of claims examiners with varied experience, overseeing the resolution of claims ranging from low to high complexity. Reporting to the Director or Senior Director of Claims, this role translates organisational objectives into daily actions and measures progress against goals.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor a team of claims specialists, ensuring workload balance, effectiveness and quality.
• Provide guidance on high‑exposure claims, coverage issues, reserve timing and the selection of outside counsel and experts.
• Assess individual and team performance, deliver feedback and identify training needs.
• Review and approve high‑value correspondence, reserves and settlements, and recommend reserve changes to senior management.
• Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries and other stakeholders on large loss activity, policy wording and renewal meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; insurance certifications a plus.
• 8+ years of industry experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and analytical abilities.
• Proven ability to deliver outstanding internal and external customer service.
