Chief Operating Officer & Senior Actuary

About the role

The Head of Operations and Senior Actuary leads AIA Re's pricing and underwriting function while overseeing the day‑to‑day operation of the Bermuda office, supporting the Group Director, executive management and the Board in executing strategy and meeting regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pricing, underwriting and execution of reinsurance transactions, ensuring robust methodologies and governance.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Bermuda office, manage budgets, performance of outsourced providers and operational resilience.
• Support the Group Director and Board with governance, regulatory filings, BMA engagement and compliance with the Bermuda Insurance Code.
• Lead, coach and develop the Bermuda team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration across AIA Group.

Required profile

• University degree in actuarial science or related field and fellowship of a recognised actuarial body.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in life reinsurance pricing, structuring, underwriting and capital management, preferably in Asian markets.
• Proven experience managing operational, governance and regulatory functions within a regulated insurance environment such as Bermuda.
• Strong understanding of IFRS 17, risk‑based capital, solvency regimes (Bermuda EBS, BSCR) and insurance financial reporting.
