Gardener - Golf Course & Grounds

About the role

Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda's largest resort, is looking for a Gardener to join its team. Reporting to the Golf Superintendent, the Gardener maintains the hotel grounds, gardens and golf course, keeping them safe, inviting and aesthetically pleasing for guests and staff. The position involves turf management, planting, pruning, pest control and general landscaping.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the golf course and resort grounds for optimal playability, appearance and safety
• Prepare the course each morning: mowing, watering and grooming of fairways, greens and tees
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides and other treatments according to safety standards and environmental regulations
• Maintain walkways, pathways, driveways and public areas so they remain safe and accessible
• Plant, trim and prune flowers, shrubs and trees, and keep flower beds and gardens tidy
• Help with seasonal planting, landscaping projects and resort beautification
• Operate, maintain and repair garden tools, machinery and equipment safely
• Monitor irrigation systems and adjust them as needed
• Support special events, golf tournaments and resort projects, and work with the Golf, Grounds and Maintenance teams

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in gardening, landscaping or turf management, preferably in a luxury hotel, resort or golf course setting
• High school diploma or equivalent; horticulture or landscaping certification is an advantage
• Knowledge of turf management, plant care and pest control, and safe handling of fertilizers and chemicals
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment, with strong organization and time management
• Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, and to do physically demanding work in all weather
