Host/Hostess - Luxury Resort Restaurant

About the role

Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda's largest resort, is looking for a Host/Hostess to join its restaurant team. Reporting to the Maître d', the Host welcomes guests warmly, seats them efficiently and delivers a personalized dining experience. The role calls for multitasking, attention to detail and a strong commitment to guest service.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests professionally and seat them according to floor plan strategy, keeping fairness among servers
• Present menus, take drink orders and explain menu items, including wine pairings and specials
• Manage reservations in person, by phone and digitally, and inform management and service staff of changes, cancellations and VIP arrivals
• Identify VIP guests and special occasions, and monitor waiting lists during peak periods
• Keep tables set, menus and the host stand tidy, and help deliver food and beverages
• Support servers and understand POS operations and shift-end reporting

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant, hotel or luxury dining environment
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, and to handle physically demanding, repetitive tasks

Required skills

• Understanding of restaurant operations, service principles and guest engagement
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask under pressure and work in a multicultural team
• Familiarity with reservation systems and point-of-sale technology is an asset
