Principal, Valuation and Approved Actuary

About the role

The Principal, Valuation and Approved Actuary will lead Global Atlantic’s Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) valuation function for the Bermuda entities. Based in Hamilton, the role combines technical actuarial leadership with responsibility for best‑estimate liability (BEL) production and Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (BSCR) calculations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the EBS Valuation team in producing BEL and supporting BSCR determination for all offshore entities.
• Serve as the Approved Actuary and head of the EBS Valuation function.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement of BEL valuation processes.
• Analyze and explain BEL movements to senior management.
• Collaborate with risk, modeling, and embedded value teams on capital metrics and stress scenarios.
• Provide thought leadership and actionable insights on the EBS framework.
• Support audit, regulatory, and ad‑hoc requests related to BEL/BSCR.
• Oversee onboarding of new deals and mentor junior actuaries.
• Coordinate between Bermuda and on‑shore actuarial valuation teams.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in the (re)insurance industry.
• Professional actuarial qualification (FSA or equivalent).
• Strong experience with Bermuda EBS framework; life and annuity background preferred.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and US statutory requirements is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities.
