Public Area Cleaner (including Dorms)

About the role

Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda's largest resort, is looking for a Public Area Cleaner to join its Housekeeping team. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Housekeeping, the cleaner keeps lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, other shared spaces and staff dormitory areas clean, presentable and comfortable. Candidates apply through the partner AssessFirst, which sends a questionnaire shortly after application.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain public areas and dormitory hallways and bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, polishing and sanitizing
• Empty trash and recycling bins and restock supplies such as restroom toiletries
• Maintain cleanliness throughout shifts and respond promptly and courteously to guest and colleague requests
• Report maintenance issues, safety concerns or operational needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor
• Follow safety procedures, handle chemicals properly, use PPE and keep the workplace hazard-free
• Support the housekeeping team during peak times and special events, and help with deep-cleaning projects

Required profile

• Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning or a related role, preferably in luxury hospitality
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift and perform repetitive tasks

Required skills

• Strong cleaning skills with attention to detail and presentation standards
• Professional customer service and ability to follow safety protocols and procedures
• Ability to prioritize tasks independently and as part of a team
