Senior Insurance Tax - Bermuda

About the role

EY's Financial Services Organization (FSO) Insurance Tax practice in Bermuda is looking for a Senior to join its team. Working with professionals in the insurance industry, you will take part in tax compliance projects that build your tax technical knowledge. The BBC (Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands) is a market segment of the FSO covering insurance, banking and capital markets, asset management and private equity.

Key responsibilities

• Tax compliance and advisory work for clients across the BBC and the global network, on domestic federal, international and state and local taxation, implementing tax strategies aligned with client business objectives
• Manage tax compliance accounts for general insurers, reinsurance and captive insurance companies
• Relationship management: build lasting professional relations with key client employees, manage staffing and economics of engagements, and analyse engagement results to deliver exceptional client service

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a business discipline with at least 4 years of relevant tax experience; or an advanced degree in tax or law with at least 3 years of relevant tax experience
• CPA (or equivalent internationally recognized accounting designation), Enrolled Agent and/or LLM certification, or the ability to obtain one of them within one year of employment
• Ability to identify key tax technical issues and raise the right questions before work goes to a partner or senior manager, and to consult when necessary
• Ideally: SEC experience, proven experience managing teams and client relationships, and excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of insurance tax
• ASC 740 and SSAP 101
• Income tax support for audits and income tax experience for insurance companies and C corporations
