Assistant Vice President – Reinsurance Actuary

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President, Reinsurance Actuary to join Hamilton Re’s Bermuda team. Reporting to the Head of Pricing, you will work closely with risk analysts and underwriting teams to develop data‑driven pricing strategies for property, casualty and specialty reinsurance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance reinsurance pricing models, ensuring design consistency, parameter benchmarking and rate‑adequacy monitoring.
• Price reinsurance contracts across casualty, specialty and property lines, including excess‑of‑loss and proportional arrangements.
• Collaborate with underwriting teams to integrate actuarial insights into underwriting decisions.
• Conduct profitability studies and produce reporting on portfolio segments.
• Support pricing and reserving projects across the organisation.

Required profile

• Professional actuarial designation (FCAS or equivalent).
• Minimum five years of pricing experience in insurance or reinsurance.
• Proven experience with reinsurance contract pricing and evaluation of common contract features.
• Strong communication skills to present analytical findings.
• Open, innovative and collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Programming in VBA, Python, SQL and R.
• Experience with the Tyche pricing platform.
• Familiarity with catastrophe and risk aggregation models.
