Culinary Apprentice – Luxury Hotel Kitchen

About the role

Join the luxury hospitality team at Fairmont Southampton as a Culinary Apprentice. You will receive structured on‑the‑job training while supporting food preparation and service across the resort’s multiple dining outlets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs with food preparation, cooking, and plating according to menu specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of workstations and equipment.
• Support buffet setups, kitchen stations, and high‑volume service during events.
• Participate in rotational assignments to gain experience across different kitchen stations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; current enrolment or interest in culinary training is a plus.
• Previous kitchen or food‑service experience is an asset but not required.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and split shifts.

Required skills

• Basic knife skills and fundamental cooking techniques.
• Understanding of food safety principles and willingness to learn hygiene standards.
• Ability to follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and plating standards.
