Senior Analyst – Actuary (Regulatory Supervision)

About the role

The Bermuda Monetary Authority is seeking a Senior Analyst‑Actuary to support its Supervision (Insurance, Funds and Corporate Authorisations) Department. The role involves regulatory supervision of insurers, analysing financial filings and providing insight to guide supervisory actions.

Key responsibilities

• Review prudential and financial filings by regulated insurance entities to assess compliance and identify risk issues.
• Assist in technical reviews of reserves and actuarial models, and analyse complex commercial or technical areas.
• Develop agendas, attend prudential meetings with insurers, minute discussions and devise corrective action plans.
• Monitor insurers for ongoing compliance through review, analysis and direct follow‑up.
• Contribute to thought‑leadership research on life (re)insurance and other actuarial topics.
• Support the automation and streamlining of supervisory processes and build scalable analytic capabilities.

Required profile

• Professional actuarial designation (e.g., ASA, FSA, FIA, AIA, FFA, FCIA, CERAA).
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in financial services, preferably life (re)insurance or a regulatory body.
• Knowledge of the Bermuda regulatory framework or comparable risk‑based regimes such as Solvency II.
• Understanding of key pillars of risk‑based supervision (economic balance sheet, ORSA, stress tests, ALM).
• Experience conducting on‑site reviews, credit‑rating reviews, forensic accounting or investigations.
• Ability to work accurately in a fast‑paced environment and willingness to work outside normal business hours.
