Senior Analyst – Supervision (Insurance, Funds & Corporate Authorisations)

About the role

The Senior Analyst will join the Supervision (Insurance, Funds and Corporate Authorisations) Department of the Bermuda Monetary Authority. Reporting to the Principal, the role involves conducting supervisory reviews, statutory return analysis, solvency capital evaluation and monitoring a portfolio of life (re)insurance companies, with the aim of informing regulatory action plans.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Principal in day‑to‑day engagement with senior management and board members of Bermudian‑registered life (re)insurance companies and other stakeholders.
• Assess the adequacy of financial resources held by these insurers and groups.
• Conduct risk‑focused on‑site reviews using various risk assessment methodologies to evaluate compliance with laws, regulations and policies.
• Schedule meetings, develop agendas, attend alongside colleagues and draft minutes reflecting discussions and action points.
• Prepare reports and propose remedial actions for submission to management.
• Monitor developments in the local and international insurance market, regulatory regimes and accounting standards.
• Review and analyse authorisation applications from new life (re)insurance companies.
• Coordinate portfolio deliverables with specialists and internal stakeholders.
• Evaluate enquiries from external regulators and provide advice or recommendations.
• Undertake special projects and related work as assigned.

Required profile

• A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or a related field.
• Proven technical and business background in financial supervision or insurance regulation.
• Experience conducting statutory return analysis, solvency assessments and risk‑focused reviews.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to produce clear regulatory reports.
