Tax Staff - Wealth & Asset Management (Bermuda)

About the role

EY's Financial Services Office (FSO) tax practice offers comprehensive, specialized tax assistance to the asset management industry. The role sits within the BBC (Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands) and involves working with tax professionals who cover hedge fund, private equity fund and mutual fund taxation, including fund and organizational structuring, tax compliance and on-call advice.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in tax compliance and advisory work for clients
• Work with seniors through partners on key client issues in domestic federal, international and state and local taxation, focusing on tax strategies aligned with client business objectives
• Take part in tax compliance accounts for hedge funds, mutual funds and/or private equity funds

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a business discipline, and/or an advanced degree in tax or law
• Minimum of 9 months of relevant tax experience
• CPA (or equivalent internationally recognized accounting designation), Enrolled Agent and/or LLM certification preferred; non-certified and partially certified hires must become certified before promotion to manager
• Ideal: experience serving clients in the wealth and asset management industry, such as mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity funds or other investment vehicles
• Broad exposure to federal income taxation and exposure to state and local tax

• Able to identify key tax technical issues and raise the right questions before work goes to review, and to consult when necessary
• Ability to manage multiple work assignments and deadlines
• Team player who can work independently, with strong communication skills and attention to detail
